“I cannot live in the kingdom of God with a hurried soul.”

Now it is important to see the difference between being busy and being hurried because as John says. “Busy-ness migrates to hurry when we let it squeeze God out of our lives. Note the differences between the two:

Busy Hurried

A full schedule Preoccupied

Many activities Unable to be fully present

An outward condition An inner condition of the soul

Physically demanding Spiritually draining

Reminds me I need God Causes me to be unavailable to God”

We need to keep in focus our need for God our total dependence upon Him. He is our source. Our significance comes in our relationship with Him not our activity for Him. As John says, “The grace of significance liberates me from the need to hurry.”

Yes we will be busy but not necessarily hurried.

“When you understand that life is a test, you realize that nothing is insignificant in your life.”

To realize that from God’s perspective life is a test goes a long way in determining how you handle your life. It is important to see that in testing your character is both developed and revealed. Rick goes on to say that “even the smallest incident has significance for your character development. Every day is an important day, and every second is a growth opportunity to deepen your character, to demonstrate love, or to depend on God.” So there is a God purpose behind each situation in your life. “What areas of my personality, background, and physical appearance am I struggling to accept?”

Rick posed this question at the end of his chapter, You Are Not an Accident. In this chapter he deals with the fact that God created you the way you are with a purpose. In other words you are not an accident. I am also reading the Apostle John’s view of Jesus and what He said and did while He was here on earth. In the beginning of Chapter 9 there is a story about a blind man. And the disciples who were with Him asked Him a good question, “Who sinned, this man or his parents that he was born blind? ” Have you ever asked the same thing about something in you that you don’t like?
